[BTF #3] The Value for Premium

PLUS: Selling, I made a website, Minter tokens

Welcome to Below the Fold! The weekend update for Premium subscribers with some personal takes.

Been thinking more about the value I provide to Premium subscribers. Assuming TPan continues to grow, I want to continue providing value to everyone in the space, but this group should get more.

I have some ideas brewing, but the more impactful ones will take time :)

I’m going to switch the order up for these sections starting with what’s going on with me. You read enough Web3 stuff anyway, so let’s change it up.

I also want to be more transparent with my endeavors along the way because, why not? And that’s probably more interesting/valuable for you than ‘what didn’t make the cut’ lol. Premium subs shouldn’t get sloppy seconds.

Question for you: What do you think of BTF? What do you want more of? What do you want less of? Is this weekend newsletter even worth our time?

What’s going on with TPan

Professionally

Learning how to sell: I do not know how to sell myself well. One reason is because I’ve never had do it and the other is related to my cultural upbringing. At previous jobs I was the one that had a budget and people sold me. Now I’m the product and I need to sell myself.

I’m glad that it’s only taken me a couple of weeks to admit that I need to learn the sales dance.

Me doing the sales dance

Grapevine whispers: I’ve been hearing anecdotes of people talking about my writing. There’s been at least 4 instances past couple of weeks where someone tells me that someone told them that people at X were talking about my writing.

Even though my numbers are not as impressive as a large newsletter, this is great sign that my work is providing value.

Now the question is how I effectively garner that interest and chatter for something more meaningful.

Public Requests: I’ve been writing about Web3 companies for a little while now. Before I departed for to my friend’s wedding, I changed up my strategy of who to write about.

We’ll see how this tactic does, but it seems to be a smarter way to

  • publicize value creation

  • signal to Web3 builders (and eventually content partners)

  • get positive testimonials

I have a website! It’s basic, and something I’ve procrastinated for months on. Now that I’ve created the website, I’ve been thinking making all these improvements. Sorta like buying a house and wanting to make improvements 😂

Personally

  • Was at a wedding in the San Diego area last week. A good amount of driving, and some much-needed time away from computer screens!

  • A is doing a consulting gig away from home so she’s been gone for a week and I’ve been had a lot of alone time. I’ve been mostly working, but it’s been a nice opportunity to get into my thoughts more and reflect.

What didn’t make the cut

  • Observations working in Web2 vs. Web3 - People in Web3 seem to be flakier. Maybe that’s just me.

What I'm thinking about for my writing

  • Byzantine General’s Problem - Doing a co-writing experiment with a fellow WW3 member on this topic

  • Been in talks with a VC Fund to write about their portfolio co’s - Following up with the CEO of one of the companies.

Have a great weekend :)
